Terez Montcalm is first of all a voice recognizable from the first note: warm, broken, fragile and sensual. Author, composer, performer and guitarist of Quebec origin, Térez Montcalm handles rhymes and words with swing. And it is in English as well as in French that she (re) brings to life the great classics or her own titles.
She started her career in Canada and was ranked several times in the TOP 5 Top of the time. In 2008 she arrived in France with a first album, "Voodoo" signed by Francis Dreyfus which will launch her career in Europe. With over 100,000 sales this album has become a classic in his discography. She then went on to albums and tours, always with a very Jazz accent, mixing original songs and covers of standards. Musician and guitarist, she is quickly identified as "the most rock of jazz singers" and the public appreciates her style and her very strong personality. Térez leaves no one indifferent and everywhere she goes she thrills an audience who often discovers her. In 2019 she met the director Régis Ceccarelli, surrounded herself with a new team, Laurent Vernerey, Nicolas Viccaro and his long-time accomplice Jean Marie Ecay. They decide to work together on the next album which has some nice surprises in store for us, an album more Soul, more Rock, more R&B, an album that looks like him. WORDS FROM THE PROS: "Térez Montcalm is first and foremost a voice, or rather the hair-raising weaving of at least three voices: the cracked voice of the rocker; that, sensual, of the completely jazzed up lover; that, childish, of astonished forever. Admirably set with jazz, this heady, captivating voice amazes and makes us dance with happiness. »Télérama« There is banter in his swing. "She" This Canadian singer doesn't have a grain of voice in her voice, it's an extremely seductive scratch, the kind you won't forget: something Janis Joplin. But she has the grain in her head, something of Camille, crazy poetry and a presence between a sacripan child and a young woman who has seen the wolf, doesn't quite believe it and dances with him. "Corse Matin" It is rare that a voice kidnaps you like this in the first bars. That of Térez Montcalm, an atypical Quebecer, has something of the animal hiss: a unique hoarseness that sometimes turns into devastating roars, as we had not heard in the ears since at least Janis Joplin! »RFI Music
