Angelo Debarre
Gypsy musician, Angelo started playing guitar with his family at the age of eight. After a quick professional start, he left the strings to devote himself to the drums. In 1984, he returned to his favorite instrument and formed the first "Angelo Jazz Quintet". Since 1985, he has been one of the pillars of the famous Parisian cabaret, which has now disappeared, "La Roue Fleurie" and has taken part in numerous tours in the gypsy and gypsy jazz styles. Very comfortable in both repertoires, he can be found alongside Pedro Ivanovitch, Arbat, Raya, Serge Camps, Bratsch as well as Boyan Zulfikarpasic, Xavier Desandre-Navarre, Florin Nicolescu or even Moréno, Bireli Lagrene, Jimmy Rosenberg , Romane ... Unquestionably belonging to the growing family of Django's heirs, Angelo has built a very strong personality. His style, served by a hair-raising technique, constantly enriched over musical encounters, in the purest gypsy tradition. Angelo Debarre is now recognized as one of the most talented guitarists in gypsy jazz and the quality of his quartet with accordionist Ludovic Beier has attracted the collaboration of big names in the song like Sanseverino or Thomas Dutronc. Today, surrounded by Marius Apostol, and the Gypsy accents of his violin, Angelo Debarre and his 5tet Gipsy Unity offers us, between tradition (covers by Django Reinhardt) and modernity, (compositions by Angelo and Marius), a music more alive than ever.
